Thai music lovers, you are lucky this February! After years of waiting, Thai duo SCRUBB finally have a Manila show happening this February 10, 2024, at 123 Block (outdoor area) in Mandaluyong City.
Weeks before their Manila show, an online media conference was conducted and we asked them few questions. Both Muey and Ball expresed that they are excited for their show in Manila.
They are in the industry for more than two decades, sometimes it’s hard but there was a time that they’re really shock because even teenagers know their songs. It motivated them to continue writing songs.
If you could give two songs of yours that new fans should listen to, what is it and why?
Ball and Muey said new fans should listen to ใกล้ (Close) which is is almost 20 years already [since its release] and กลัว (Afraid) as these songs really have a big part of their journey.
Muey also expressed that he hopes their Filipino fans practice the Thai language so they can help them [in terms of singing the song] so they encourage that fans should learn the language.
What is your process in making a song? Do you decide a theme first before writing? Do you write based on what you are feeling at the moment or does your ideas comes out naturally?
Muey expressed that the process is mixed, “There are times that we think first before writing, there are times we think while writing, there are times we are doing solo in terms of writing the song and we collab together to make a song. There are also sometimes that we are asking our friends to write songs for us.”
They tried many methods to try which one works best. They also said that they are writing based on their personal experience.
You are in the industry for more than 2 decades now, what do you love about performing or writing songs?
About the writing songs, Muey love the most is able to write songs that really gives motivation to their audience and able to communicate their songs with them. It really makes him happy.
For Ball, in terms of a concert/show, there’s a lot of factors that unexpected things might happen, but he said that doing music is like doing exercise, you really need to focus and be ready for whatever might happen.
SCRUBB is composed of Thawatpon Wongboonsiri and Torpong Chantabubpha. They are known for their popoular hit tracks like รอยยิ้ม (Smile), ใกล้ (Close) and ทุกอย่าง (Everything). Some of their songs are also the OST of the Thai BL series 2gether.
Aside from SCRUBB, Prolific actor-rapper Elijah Canlas and chart-topping singer-songwriter TONEEJAY will be joining SCRUBB: Live in Manila on February 10, 2024, at the 123 Block in Mandaluyong City.
