5 reasons why you should watch Ready, Set, Love | #THAImazingReview

This Netflix series — Ready, Set, Love, is set in a surrealistic world where women outnumber the population of men. There came a government-sponsored competition called “Ready, Set, Love” wherein selected women would compete and the winner of the game would marry their pick.

Through the competition, Day meets Son (one of the ‘Ready, Set, Love’ men) and that is where their story will unfold and the mysteries about The Farm will rise. ‘Ready, Set, Love’ series has six (6) episodes and the series will make you smile, laugh, and fall in love at the same time.

If you are fond of rom-com and dystopian-themed series, then this series is for you.

Aside from that, here are five (5) reasons why you should watch the series:

THE PLOT

Since the series focused on the government-sponsored competition called ‘Ready, Set, Love,’ the series featured many activities wherein the selected women had to play different kinds of games and they should succeed in each round to be qualified for the next round.

Based on the points of the participating women, they will have the chance to date their pick among the five men (Son, Almond, Paper, Max, and Jin).

The series of games will unlock the chances for the selected women to get married to their pick. Not just that because many mysteries about The Farm will unfold in the series.

THE CHARACTERS

The series featured the lives of Son, Almond, Paper, Max, and Jin alongside Day and Chanel. Each of the characters has an interesting personality and characterization. Just like Son who is popular among the ‘Ready, Set, Love’ men which caught the eyes and hearts of many contestants of the show. Almond’s hobby is cooking, and yes, you will get to see him cook for some of the characters in the series. Max, who is sporty among them, would eventually flex his body build whenever he can. Paper who is interested in music would lead his way through meeting the love of his life. While Jin does not have that much screen time nevertheless, he is adorable during the games.

Day’s fun and optimistic personality will get you hooked especially how loving a sister she can be for May, who is sick. She is willing to do everything for her sister and she is very versatile. While Chanel’s character may seem tough on the outside, she is struggling to hear validation from her mother, and she’s nice. You’ll also encounter Chanel’s friendship with Bovy in the series.

THE OST

The song from the series fits the feelings of the characters. The song often played during Paper’s scenes. The song talks about the longing of a person where they can do anything they can freely ‘beyond the wall.’

“Beyond the wall
Where tears no longer fall
Where we can smile.
Where fish can fly
And the birds from the sky are down
In the blue
We’ll cut the stars from the sky
And wear them as our prize”

Although the song is not yet released, the actress who played Bovy covered the song.

LOVE IS LOVE

This series did not just focus on a straight couple as this series also featured BL (boys love) and GL (girls love) couples. No spoilers on who they are, so you better watch the series if you’re curious who they are and how their story will unfold in the series.

I got excited when there was a GL involved in the story and was hooked when they unfolded the BL aspect of the series. I love that they showed straight, GL, and BL love in the series.

THE SERIES IS FUN TO WATCH

If you want a light-themed series, ‘Ready, Set, Love’ is for you. It can be funny at times with the hint of a love story that will make you giggle. There is a mystery that will unfold mid-part of the series but it makes the series better as you will get to see more character arc.
